How a before school reading conference led to more reading

One of my fifth graders came into class about ten minutes before school started on Monday. She said that she wanted to change her reading goal. She really wanted to start reading more poetry, and she thought that would be a good goal for her. She went on to say that she had just read her first novel-in-verse, and it was AMAZING.
